Crows in the Kingdom - Birbal Story

One day, Emperor Akbar and Birbal were taking a walk in the palace gardens. They were discussing about the welfare of the people. They happened to see a flock of crows flying happily in the garden. At that moment, a question came into Akbar’s mind. He started thinking how many crows were there in his kingdom.

Immediately, he asked Birbal this question. Birbal replied, “There are eighty-two thousand six hundred and ninety crows in the Kingdom”. Akbar was surprised by his quick response. Akbar wanted to verify the number of crows told by Birbal. Hence Akbar asked Birbal "What if the number of crows in the kingdom is more than what you told me?" Birbal replied, "If there are more crows than what I said, then it means some crows are visiting from other neighborhood to our kingdom”.

"And what if there are less crows", Akbar asked.
Birbal replied "Then some crows from our kingdom have gone to other places". Akbar was impressed with Birbal's intelligence.
