Endorsement of child's name in parent's passports is not allowed anymore in India. Hence the kid should have a separate passport. Here is the procedure about How to apply for a new Indian Passport for kid and the list of documents required for the same.
The passports for minors will be valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
How to apply:
- via Passport Seva Kendra - submit the form online > take an appointment at the nearest office > visit the Kendra on appointment date to submit the required documents
- via District Passport Cell - buy application form from any post office > fill the form > submit the form with necessary documents at the DPC counter
Documents needed for applying a new passport for Kids / Minors:
- Documents for Address Proof for parents (any 1 of the below documents)
- Water Bill , Telephone Bill, Electricity Bill, 1 year bank statement / pass book, income tax assessment order, Election commission ID card, Ration card, aadhaar card
- Document for Date of Birth - Birth certificate issued by Municipal Authority or any authorized office
- Photocopies of parent's passport (if available)
- Necessary annexure from the below list
- Annexure H : for minor with consent of both parents
- Annexure H : applied by Legal Guardian
- Annexure H : for minor with single parent
- Annexure G : applied by one parent
- Annexure C : parents separated
